Lampard ‘to be gone by March’: Coventry reaction as Everton fans get flashbacks

Frank Lampard’s excuses after his Coventry side lost 2-0 to West Brom haven’t inspired his new fanbase and were very familiar to his previous ones.

The former Chelsea, Man City and England midfielder returned to management late last month when he took charge of the Sky Blues in the Championship.

After some mixed spells in charge of Chelsea and Everton in the Premier League, the 46-year-old has received praise for his ongoing desire to prove himself in management.

Following a draw and a win in his first two games in charge, Lampard tasted his first defeat with his new club on Wednesday (11 December), against a West Brom side who had drawn ten of their last 11.

Now, his reaction to that setback has generated some discussion among Coventry supporters, as well as followers of the two clubs he previously managed.

Frank Lampard comments assessed by Coventry City fans after loss to West Brom

Defeat to the Baggies has left the Sky Blues 16th in the Championship table, four points clear of the relegation zone.

Speaking after the game, Lampard told Sky Sports that he felt his side should not have lost game, having had what he felt were the bigger chances in the game.

While a number of Coventry fans agreed with him, others were more sceptical and don’t expect him to last long in his latest job, suggesting he would be “gone by March”.

Fans of Chelsea and Everton meanwhile, appeared less complimentary to their former manager, after being given flashbacks to similar comments during his increasingly unsuccessful time in charge of their clubs respectively.

In others news, it has been suggested Frank Lampard could miss out on the chance to face a former Premier League rival during his time in charge of Coventry.
