Lawrence Shankland, Morgan Whittaker: Rangers signing update after deal agreed

Rangers are still in the market for a top-class forward signing before the window shuts, sources have told Football Insider.

Due to their financial issues, the Gers must sell players to fund any potential new deals.

Philippe Clement has been open about the fact that every player in the squad is available to be sold at the right price this summer.

Robin Propper became Rangers’ ninth summer signing on Thursday when he finalised a £2.5million move from FC Twente.

But the Gers are now focusing their efforts at the other end of the field as Clement wants an elite goalscorer to fire his side into title contention, a needed that was brought into even sharper focus following the opening day 0-0 draw against Hearts on Saturday.

The Scottish giants have already secured £4million from selling Connor Goldson and Sam Lammers in this window.

Rangers are monitoring Lawrence Shankland and Morgan Whittaker

Two players that Rangers are considering to fill the gap are Lawrence Shankland and Morgan Whittaker, but both have high asking prices.

The Gers previously tried to sign the Plymouth Argyle winger in January but had their offer knocked back.

Rangers will face competition in trying to make a deal happen for Whittaker, as Football Insider revealed Wolves and Brentford are also in the market for him.

Shankland is available at a cut price as he enters the final year of his Hearts contract.

Shankland wants to join the Gers according to former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie, but whether the club can afford to make a deal happen remains to be seen.
