'Rank rotten' - Rangers fans tear midfielder to shreds after win against Ross County

Rangers fans reacted with despair on social media to the performance of Carlos Pena in the 2-1 win over Ross County.

The Mexican midfielder was extremely ineffectual, and was replaced by the returning Alfredo Morelos at half-time, and fans were pleased to see the change take place.

The substitution worked, as Morelos scored Rangers’ equaliser against the Dingwall side.

Pena has been an enigma in his time at Ibrox, as he has scored five goals and nine games yet has turned in some very poor performances.

The Mexican international was signed in the summer by previous Ibrox manager Pedro Caixinha in the summer for a fee of £2.2 million from Guadalajara.

Fans were left raging with his performance on Twitter after the game, with one supporting slamming him for being “rank rotten”.

As for the match itself, an early goal by Craig Curran put the Staggies into the lead, before Alfredo Morelos made his return from injury to score his first goal in more than two months.

Danny Wilson scored a late winner with a header to give the Gers all three points.

The result means that the Gers, still under the management of Graeme Murty, have gone ahead of Aberdeen in the battle for second place in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers’ have won three league games in a row for the first time since December 2016.

Graeme Murty’s side are next in action against Hibs at Easter Road.
