Yorkshire Evening Post journalist gives damning player ratings for Leeds against Derby

By Emma Sanders

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter, Phil Hay gave a number of damning player ratings as Leeds were defeated 1-0 by Derby.

The performance was a disappointing one at the iPro stadium and Hay wasn’t shy on his player ratings, giving low scores to a number of players.

Among them, Hadi Sacko, Kalvin Phillips and Alex Mowatt received criticism for their poor performances.

All three were players heavily disputed by fans on Twitter during the game as the visitors were unable to break down Steve McClaren’s side.

In the Yorkshire Evening Post, Pontus Jansson was once again one of Leeds’ best players and was given a rating of seven out of ten by Hay for his defensive duties.

Kyle Bartley was also praised for his energy throughout the game and was awarded an eight, despite missing a golden chance to score for Leeds.

Sacko and Mowatt were the team’s worst performers according to Hay, who gave them a pitiful rating of four out of ten.

There were six players given five out of ten, including Phillips and substitutes, Kemar Roofe and Matt Grimes as they failed to make an impact.

All-in-all, it was a disappointing result for Leeds, who never seemed to be able to get the ball rolling.
