League One postponement latest as Met Office issue new snow and ice warnings across the UK

League One games are set to be affected by the weather this weekend after new Met Office warnings on snow and ice across the country.

Cardiff City continue to lead the way at the top of League One right now, with Lincoln City two points behind them in second place after 30 games.

Bolton Wanderers, Stockport County, Huddersfield Town and Bradford City make up the top six, with Luton Town sat just outside the playoff places after successive relegations to the third tier.

This weekend has already seen a League One game called off, with Port Vale’s trip to Doncaster Rovers postponed after the former’s progression to the FA Cup fourth round.

Snow is set to arrive in the UK once more over the coming days, with weather warnings now in place and more games potentially at risk of being postponed.

Seven League One games at risk of postponement after Met Office update

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice, and one solely for ice, on Saturday, which both cover the majority of the UK other than the south-east coast.

Barnsley vs Wimbledon at Oakwell and Bradford vs Peterborough at Valley Parade are both covered by the snow and ice warning, with travel set to be disrupted and pitches possibly set to be affected.

The other five games, including Cardiff at home to Luton and Bolton’s trip to Lincoln, are all only at risk of icy conditions after the Met Office’s latest warning.

Supporters travelling to all games are warned of potential injuries from falls on slippery surfaces, and should look out for possible pitch inspections on Saturday morning for the matches they are due to attend.

FA Cup games also due to be affected by adverse conditions

While most FA Cup games are less likely to be called off due to better facilities and playing surfaces, the conditions are also set to play their part in causing disruption.

Four different Saturday matches are set to fall under the ice warning, including Aston Villa‘s hosting of Newcastle and Liverpool‘s Anfield clash against Brighton

Three more matches, including Man City against Salford, are set to be covered by the snow and ice warning, while Port Vale’s home tie against Bristol City could be under threat of postponement.
