League One postponement update: Peterborough vs Stockport County among affected games as Storm Claudia causes chaos

Peterborough United could see their Thursday night clash with Stockport County fall foul of the weather.

The League One strugglers have been resurgent under Luke Williams, having won all three of their games under their new boss so far.

Peterborough notably lost Kwame Poke to QPR in the summer transfer window, while Emmanuel Fernandez also jumped ship to join Rangers.

Their striking list of summer departures has been a major contributor to their early-season struggles, and they now face a tough assignment against table-topping Stockport.

However, with Storm Claudia wreaking havoc across the UK already this week, there is a chance that the midweek clash may be at risk of a potential postponement.

Peterborough is on the verge of yellow Met Office weather warning

Ipswich Town’s Championship clash with Wrexham is at risk of a potential postponement on Saturday afternoon, as a result of a yellow weather warning that has been issued by the Met Office.

The warning is in place for large parts of the East Coast on Thursday, with snow and ice expected throughout the affected areas.

Peterborough’s meeting with Stockport could also be about to feel the wrath of Storm Claudia, with the town sitting just outside the current region for the warning.

A postponement could potentially be on the cards if the adverse conditions extend beyond the limits of the warning in the hours leading up to the 8pm kick-off.

Even if the game does go ahead, it is possible that it could be seriously affected by the conditions.

Exeter City vs Burton Albion already postponed

The League One relegation battle is already taking shape as we head towards the bulk of the campaign, and Exeter City’s clash with Burton Albion on Saturday would have been crucial in deciding the fates of the teams at the bottom.

However, that meeting has already been postponed due to a fire that broke out at Exeter’s St James’ Park home last week.

Confirmation of the postponement arrived on Wednesday, with the damage caused by the fire deemed as irreparable before the weekend’s game, according to BBC Sport.

The fire damaged the electricity supply to one stand, while also damaging the fire alarm systems and first aid facilities, among other areas.
