Leandro Trossard contract latest as new enquiries emerge for Arsenal star after summer interest

Arsenal appear to already have new contract plans for talented attacker Leandro Trossard despite only signing a new deal in August.

The 30-year-old put pen to paper during the summer, signing a deal which rewarded him with a pay-rise but no added years, meaning he will be out of contract at the end of the season, unless an optional year is triggered.

Trossard scored a sensational goal against Sunderland during a dramatic 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light, a result which saw Mikel Arteta keep their four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

William Saliba has been tied down to a new contract, with new sporting director Andrea Berta making smart moves behind the scenes, and it appears that Trossard could be next in North London.

Leandro Trossard could land a contract extension at Arsenal

According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, despite the Gunners already adjusting the player’s salary in August, ideas have emerged of a contract extension for the in-form Belgian.

Trossard’s management remains in regular contact with the club, and although nothing has been finalised, it is not out of the question that his stay is extended beyond 2028.

The Gunners wanted to give him a new deal to prevent his exit during the summer, but it has been revealed that new enquiries have now arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

Trossard gained plenty of attention during the summer, but with four goals and four assists in 14 appearances so far this season, Arteta will be extremely happy that the club kept hold of him.

Which clubs wanted to sign Trossard during the summer?

Premier League duo, Aston Villa and Brentford, were both credited with interest in the attacker’s services, but so were multiple giants across Europe. It is no surprise as to why.

Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and clubs from Turkey were all keeping tabs on the Belgian, but once he put pen to paper on a new deal in North London, it was game over for those clubs.

Although Trossard is not always involved in the starting lineup, mainly due to the sheer number of talents within the squad, he can always be depended on to make an impact from the bench.

It would be rather difficult for the Gunners to find someone who is willing to give as much to the club as he has done over the last four seasons. That will be why another contract could be on the table.
