Ledley King believes Harry Kane will remain with Tottenham until the day he hangs up his boots, after signing a new deal.
The 23-year-old signed a new six-year deal with the North London club on Thursday, which will see him remain with Mauricio Pochettino’s side until 2022.
Former captain King claimed that Kane’s relationship with the White Hart Lane fanbase is one of the reasons he believes the goal machine will remain Tottenham’s number 10 until the end of his career.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if Harry spent his whole career here,” King told Goal. “He is that type of lad. He has a great relationship with the fans and it is great news that he is here for the foreseeable future.
“He needs to take it one step at a time and continue to help push the team up the table, in the quest for trophies. I never felt that it was in doubt to be honest, I know Harry and the kind of guy that he is.”
Kane put pen to paper on a new deal after scoring five goals in as many Premier League games, including a sublime last-gasp brace against London rivals West Ham during a 3-2 win last month.
In 137 appearaces for Tottenham, Kane has found the back of the net 70 times in all competitions with six of those strikes coming this season.
England international Kane, who went out on loan four times before becoming one of the first names on Pochettino’s team sheet, is likely to start as Spurs’ attacking spearhead against Swansea on Saturday.
Three points against Bob Bradley’s struggling side would go some way to reigniting Tottenham’s title hopes, with a win taking them to just one point off fourth placed North London rivals Arsenal.
In other Tottenham news, Graham Roberts has also had his say on Kane.
