Leeds accelerate plan to sign attacker ahead of January amid Jack Harrison decision
Leeds United have endured a frustrating start to the season so far after returning to the Premier League following last season’s promotion.
Daniel Farke‘s side lost 2-0 to Burnley last time out, knocking them down to 15th in the table while handing potential relegation rivals an extra three points.
The major concern at Elland Road so far this season has been their form in front of goal, having scored just seven goals in eight Premier League games.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown warned Football Insider on 16 September that Leeds are in big trouble as a result of their lack of firepower.
As a result, they are making plans for the January transfer window, as Football Insider revealed on 14 September that Leeds are planning to sign a new striker and winger.
Leeds United plan to add attacking reinforcements in January
Football Insider revealed on 7 September that Leeds are concerned about their attacking options, and could look to bolster their squad in January.
Patrick Bamford was released in August, while doubts remain about Joel Piroe, leaving new arrivals Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the main threats.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Farke is planning to bring in reinforcements in attacking areas as Leeds continue to fight against the odds of relegation.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Look, for Leeds right now, they’re probably looking to strengthen the squad rather than weaken it.
“Particularly in attacking areas, where Farke is planning to strengthen in January.
“A lot will depend on what Leeds are able to do in the transfer window themselves.

“If they are able to bring in attacking reinforcements then maybe that could open the door to a move for Jack Harrison.
“But I don’t think there’s sort of in the making for a potential move away from Harrison right now.”
Leeds were open to selling Harrison in the summer, but only planned to do so if they could land a replacement rather than losing a valuable squad player.
Jack Harrison transfer update emerges at Elland Road
Speculation about Jack Harrison’s future has emerged in recent weeks as he has struggled to establish himself in Farke’s squad since returning from Everton.
The 28-year-old has made eight appearances so far this season, but has started just twice, with his involvement against Burnley the first since their Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
However, Football Insider revealed on 17 October that Leeds will not let Harrison leave unless they can find a replacement as they do not want to weaken their squad.

Despite having struggled for regular minutes this season, the winger remains part of the squad and gives them further attacking depth behind the regular starters.
Farke is not interested in weakening his side, even by losing squad players, and will only sanction sales mid-way through the season if they are replaced adequately.
