‘Leeds and Tottenham relationship weakened amid Manor Solomon return links’

Leeds United look to have suffered a setback to the hope they might have of completing another deal with Tottenham for Manor Solomon.

Daniel Farke’s side enjoyed a memorable 2024/25 season, winning the Championship title to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

As they prepare to return to the top-flight, there have been claims Leeds will spend over £100million in the summer transfer window as they attempt to put together a competitive top-flight squad.

However, their hopes of making Solomon one of those additions to the squad from Tottenham look as though they may have been dealt a blow.

Leeds United want Manor Solomon back

This season, Solomon has spent the campaign on loan at Elland Road from Spurs, playing a useful role in the Yorkshire club’s success.

The winger scored ten goals and provided 13 assists in 39 Championship appearances for Farke’s team to help them to that second-tier title.

As a result, well-connected former scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider Leeds will be “desperate” to re-sign the Spurs winger this summer, when it appears he will be on the move.

Football Insider recently reported that Tottenham will sell Solomon this summer amid interest from Premier League clubs, which include the Elland Road outfit.

But once behind the scenes departure could be about to put a major spanner in those particular transfer plans.

Angus Kinnear is set to swap Yorkshire for Merseyside

Angus Kinnear key to Tottenham agreement

According to a new update from The Athletic, Angus Kinnear was key to Leeds signing Solomon last summer, due to his good relationship with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Since then though it emerged that the CEO was due to depart Elland Road, with Kinnear moving to Everton this summer under the new Friedkin Group regime.

That therefore looks to be a blow for Leeds as they attempt to complete another deal for Solomon, since they no longer have as strong a link with Tottenham as they did last summer.

Consequently, it is going to be harder for those at Elland Road to negotiate a deal with Spurs for the winger, and that may even open the door for other Premier League clubs to pounce for the 25-year-old.

The Israeli international himself may be well disposed to returning to Farke’s set up after the success he’s just had, but whether the club can make the numbers work with Levy without Kinnear to take the lead is potentially another matter.

Considering his previous experience of the top-flight and his impact last season for the club, it will be disappointing for Leeds if they do miss out on a deal for Solomon.

With that in mind, in this sense at least, those connected with the Elland Road club may well be left to rue the departure of Kinnear for Everton.
