Leeds backed to complete Thorpe Arch developments in record time after Bielsa reveal
Frank McAvennie has been enjoying what he’s heard about Marcelo Bielsa’s summer plans for Leeds United.
The former West Ham striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the news Bielsa is not going on holiday and will instead personally oversee Leeds’ latest training ground improvements.
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, Whites chief Angus Kinnear revealed “significant upgrades” to Thorp Arch will take place in the coming months.
Kinnear went on to say Leeds are “confident” Bielsa will sign a new deal with the club this summer.
McAvennie joked that the improvements would be completed in record time if Bielsa takes a hands-on approach to the developments.
“He’s a manager who you would run through a brick wall for,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’ve got a feeling he might even work with the builders, he’ll help build it.
“He’ll get his overalls on and tell the builders how to work, how to live their lives.
“Those upgrades will be built in record time I can promise you that. If he’s going to be there he will be heavily involved.
“It’s Bielsa all over. I’ve been saying for ages that we need more managers like him in the Premier League.
“If he’s involved, properly involved, it can only be good news for Leeds.”
Bielsa’s current contract will expire this summer after only signing a one-year extension on the eve of last season.
Leeds will face Manchester United at Old Trafford on the first day of next season looking to avenge last season’s 6-2 thrashing.
