Radrizzani makes a promise on Leeds recruitment, mentions big clubs
By Amir Mir
Leeds chief Andrea Radrizzani has made a recruitment promise by revealing that he wants to focus on bringing Yorkshire talent through the ranks.
The new co-owner claimed it is flattering for the former top-flight winners to have “big clubs’ trying to prise the best of their youngsters from Elland Road.
The Championship side are currently vying to reach the Premier League with manager Garry Monk turning them into promotion hopefuls this season.
Former Swansea boss Monk has guided the club to third in the table and they will be looking to continue that run as the season progresses.
The Whites have played a number of young academy players this season, with the likes of Ronaldo Vieira, Kalvin Phillps and Charlie Taylor, in particular shining through.

Now, the Elland Road faithful will be thrilled to hear that their new co-owner has plans to continue that cycle and focus on continuing the production line of emerging stars from Yorkshire.
“I still need to study better what we have,” said Radrizzani, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post. “I had the opportunity to meet the director of the academy (Adam Underwood) and I want to spend more time understanding how we work and how we can improve.
“They already expressed to me a few ideas, how things can be done a little bit better. The intention is to focus more on the Yorkshire area, to find more talent and have more legacy in the region.
“But we need to be proud that every year we are seeing some of our talented being requested by big clubs and having the chance to play.”
Central midfielder Vieira has been one of the shining lights of Monk’s debut campaign for the Yorkshire club.
The Guinea-Bissau-born player has played 22 Championship and EFL Cup games this season, scoring one goal.
That goal came against fellow promotion chasers Norwich as the youngster netted a magnificent long-range winner.
He will be hoping to continue his run in the team when Monk’s side travel to Barnsley on Saturday evening.
They have won their last three matches, including scoring six goals in their last two away encounters.
