Leeds chief Victor Orta has identified new manager with talk of senior man exiting ER - report
Leeds United director of football Victor Orta has already identified a new manager he would like to hire at Deportivo La Coruna with talk of the Spanish transfer chief exiting Elland Road for the La Liga strugglers, according to a report.
Spanish news outlet Gol Digital claims that Leeds senior man Orta is a prime candidate to take up the sporting director job at Estadio Riazor after Deportivo failed to reach an agreement with both Jordi Lardín and Carmelo del Pozo.
It is understood that Orta has plans to appoint former Elche and Villarreal manager Fran Escribá in charge of Deportivo, who are looking set to be relegated from La Liga this season with them eight points from safety with seven games to go.
Clarence Seedorf is currently in charge of Deportivo and the report says that the club are unsure of what to do with the Dutchman at this stage.
Football Insider verdict
Orta is perhaps the most unpopular character among the Leeds supporters at the moment. His rule over the transfers at Elland Road has been a complete failure and if Andrea Radrizzani has any kind of footballing knowledge to hand, he should try to push Orta out of the door. Deportivo are a big club and will have to undertake a massive rebuild in the Segunda Division if they go down. Orta does have a good knowledge of that league having signed Samuel Saiz from Huesca and with the partnership Leeds have at Cultural Leonesa. He would be a better fit in La Coruna than at Leeds.
