Jason Blunt has revealed that he knows which Leeds youngsters will follow in the footsteps of Ronaldo Vieira, Lewie Coyle and Kalvin Phillips.
Leeds are famed for their productive youth academy at Thorp Arch that has produced current Premier League stars such as Lewis Cook, Sam Byram and Fabian Delph.
Development coach Blunt believes the current crop of youngsters in Leeds’ academy have the ability to go on and follow the likes of Charlie Taylor in being promoted to the first team.
Blunt, 39, also claimed that he has held talks and is confident he knows which members of the side will go on to star in Garry Monk’s first team.
“A lot of the Academy lads have made the step up to first team this year, everyone has grown in stature,” Blunt told Leeds’ official website.
“Some of these boys are the future of Leeds United and we have spoken about who is going to be the next Ronaldo Vieira, Lewie Coyle and Kalvin Phillips.”
Monk has given a handful of chances to a number of Blunt’s rising stars this season, with Mallik Wilks, Billy Whitehouse and Tyler Denton all making first-team appearances.
Vieira, Taylor and Phillips are likely to be involved in Monk’s squad on Saturday evening as Leeds go up against Reading in a match that could prove crucial in the play-offs come May.
Three points for Monk’s men against Jaap Stam’s Royals at the Madjeski Stadium will see them climb to third and only five points behind Brighton, if the Seagulls and Huddersfield lose.
In other Leeds news, Neil Redfearn has made this claim about a “cocky” player at Elland Road.
