Leeds United have confirmed that Romario Vieira, the brother of Ronaldo Vieira, will be leaving Elland Road as the club have decided against renewing the player’s terms.
The news will undoubtedly come as a huge surprise to supporters who were expecting the 19-year-old to break into first-team after starring in the U23 set-up, to join forces with his brother.
Vieira joins a list of players who will be released with Moses Abioye, Matthew Keogh, and Moise Kroma all joining him through the exit door.
Meanwhile, Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Matthew Pennington will head back to Hamburg and Everton respectively.
Football Insider verdict:
While it might be a surprise to supporters that the player has been allowed to exit, the fact that he has made the bench twice for the senior side this season without getting into the action, suggests that he is not rated by the club and will now need to search elsewhere for a new challenge. But the 19-year-old, who is a mainstay in the U23s from where he has starred and caught the eye of the Guinea Bissau side enough to warrant a call-up to international duty, will be sorely missed. As much of a shock as it is to see him depart, it’s no surprise that Pierre-Michel Lasogga will be returning to Hamburg after the Whites opted against exercising their buying option for the player. The German has not exactly been a crowd pleaser and his lack of work ethic adding to the question marks over his fitness have led to his return to the Bundesliga despite the fact that he amassed a ten goal haul.
