Leeds 'couldn't wait to get rid' of Jansson as Everton told to steer clear by ex-Whites star
Everton have been told to steer clear of Brentford defender Pontus Jansson by Paul Robinson.
The former Leeds United and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the fact Marcelo Bielsa’s side “couldn’t wait to get rid” of the 30-year-old should be a red flag for the Toffees.
Jansson has just over six months to run on his contract with the Bees.
According to the Guardian (12 December), Everton, Leicester and Newcastle have been alerted to his situation and will target a move in January.
All three sides have struggled defensively this season and will seek reinforcements in the mid-season window.
When asked by Football Insider if Jansson would be a good signing for the Blues, Robinson said: “Everton’s defence is a big problem.

“They are getting exposed far too often.
“I don’t know if Pontus Jansson is the answer though.
“I watched him a lot at Leeds and he is not a bad player. He has got better at Brentford as well. He plays in a back three which gives him a bit more protection.
“Is he a signing that would take Everton onto the next level? I would question that. The fact Leeds couldn’t wait to get rid of him says a lot.”
Jansson has been one of Brentford’s standout players this season.
He contributed one goal and one assist in his 16 Premier League appearances.
