‘Leeds dealt Igor Paixao blow as Arsenal update emerges’
Leeds have suffered a huge blow in their pursuit of Feyenoord attacker Igor Paixao, after Arsenal’s transfer plans were revealed.
Daniel Farke’s side are looking to become the first promoted team to remain in the Premier League for three years, when they take to the top-flight next season.
The Elland Road outfit pipped Burnley to the Championship title on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign, winning the league on goal difference.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Leeds have given Farke a £150million budget this summer, in an attempt to stave off immediate relegation.

Arsenal want Paixao
It was revealed on Monday (2 June) that Leeds are in the race for Paixao, with Feyenoord wanting £33m for the 24-year-old.
The Brazilian scored 16 goals, as well as picking up 10 assists in his 34 appearances during the 2024/25 Eredivisie season.
Games | Goals | Assists |
34 | 16 | 10 |
However, The Times (5 June) has reported that Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of Paixao, as Mikel Arteta looks to add quality to his attack.
Arsenal have been in talks with Nico Williams, as well as former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, but wages could be an issue for the pair, with Williams in particular wanting in excess of £400,000 per week.
Paixao could be a cheaper option for the Gunners, but it would be a blow for Leeds to lose out on such a talented individual.

Martinelli’s time may be up
Football Insider Verdict
The news that Arsenal are stepping up their search for a left-sided attacker this summer could be bad news for the future of current winger Gabriel Martinelli.
The Brazilian had an underwhelming season for the Gunners, scoring just eight Premier League goals, while picking up four assists.
Martinelli’s Arsenal exit has been rumoured for some time, with the North London side expected to listen to offers above the £50m mark.
It may seem harsh that Arteta wants to replace the 23-year-old, as he was one of the main men during their title push in 2022/23, but it may be the right time to make the change.
If Arsenal want to fight for Premier League glory, then they must be ruthless, and any possible upgrades to their starting lineup must be taken.
