By Amir Mir
Leeds defender Pontus Jansson has been named in the EFL team of the week after his commanding performance in the 2-0 win against Cardiff on Saturday afternoon.
The EFL’s official Twitter account announced on Monday afternoon that centre-back Jansson has been named among the best eleven players in game week eight, which saw 72 EFL clubs in action.
The 25-year-old, who is on loan from Italian side Torino, made 17 clearances against Cardiff, as Garry Monk’s side notched up their second win within a week.
Jansson helped his side keep their second clean sheet in the three Championship games he has played in, having previously done so in the 2-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Sweden international lines up in a 3-5-2 formation, alongside Walsall’s Jason McCarthy and David Mirfin who scored a match-winning header for Scunthorpe United.

Forward Chris Wood and winger Pablo Hernandez scored two second-half goals as Monk’s side picked up their second win in a week having beaten Blackburn with a last-gasp winner four days before.
Monk comes up against Owen Coyle’s Blackburn for the second time in a week, when they face each other in the third-round of the League Cup on Tuesday night at Elland Road.
