Leeds employee thrilled by Koch injury latest after new footage emerges
Noel Whelan has revealed his delight after Robin Koch posted a video of his injury recovery process at Leeds United.
The former Whites striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Marcelo Bielsa’s side will benefit from having more strength in depth over the busy festive period.
Koch posted a 36-second video to Twitter on Thursday (18th November) showing him working in the club’s gym.
The German is on the comeback trail after suffering a hip injury earlier this year.
In October, the defender underwent surgery in the USA in October to help fix the issue.
Marcelo Bielsa confirmed on Friday (19th November) Koch is “further away” from a comeback than other absent stars.
Whelan insisted Leeds will have to be “very mindful” of how they bring the 25-year-old back into the fold.
However, he revealed his delight at how in shape the defender is looking.
“We don’t want to see these players out long-term, but we also have to be very mindful of how we bring them back into the first-team fold,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“That includes the training schedule and things like gym work as well. He’s another player who looks very fit, a young player.
“When it comes to that Christmas period, he shouldn’t have any problems keeping himself in shape.
“At the minute, we’re just blessed that we have three centre-backs available because there have been times this season where we’ve just had one – or Luke Ayling was filling in there.
“It’s vital that we look after the players in that position – Leeds won’t want to be putting square pegs in round holes.
“We’re really hoping to get as many of these players back as quickly as possible to give us that strength in depth over this busy period.”

Koch has made just one appearance in the Premier League this term.
He played the full 90 minutes in the 5-1 defeat to Manchester United on the opening day
