Danny Mills questioned Marcelo Bielsa for his handling of new signings Jean-Kevin Augustin and Ian Poveda since they arrived at Leeds United.
The former England international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, urged the manager to “give them a chance” as the Whites continue to struggle in front of goal.
Augustin, 22, is still waiting for his first start having been used as a substitute on three occasions in the Championship.
Since being named on the bench against Wigan on February 1st, Poveda, 20, has failed to make the matchday squad for the promotion hopefuls despite.
When asked for his thoughts on the January signings failing to break into the first-team at Elland Road, Mills told Football Insider: “You still worry for Leeds because there does not seem to be a plan B. No surprise, it is very much like Pep Guardiola. If plan A is not working, continue to do it but try and do it better. You have got to have a plan B.
“You have brought in two forward players – give them a chance! Give them an opportunity to make a difference because if not they get frustrated and we saw that with Nketiah.
“Players on the fringes need a belief that they are going to get an opportunity at some point and if they do well they will continue to get opportunities but you do not feel that is the case with Bielsa. When are these new players going to get their opportunity?”
Augustin missed Wednesday night’s 1-0 win at Middlesborough with a hamstring injury that will also keep him out of the trip to Hull City this weekend.
The French striker arrived from Red Bull Leipzig on loan until the end of the season last month.
Poveda was signed from Manchester City during the winter transfer window putting pen-to-paper on a four year contract at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan has told Football Insider he is “worried” after latest injury update.
