Thomas Christiansen is expected to ring the changes as Leeds United prepare to face Premier League Burnley in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
The Elland Road boss could make up to 10 changes to the starting XI as he gives well-earned breathers to the players responsible for the team’s place at the Championship summit.
This will mean that the likes of league ever-presents Eunan O’Kane, Kalvin Phillips, Luke Ayling, Pablo Hernandez and Felix Wiedwald are set to be omitted as well as Vurnon Anita, Samuel Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski and Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
Christiansen has already confirmed that Pontus Jansson will miss the Burnley match with a minor injury he sustained in the weekend defeat at Millwall.
A good display against Premier League opposition would be the perfect tonic before their next Championship game against Ipswich at Elland Road on Saturday.
It’s also a great opportunity to give some players on the fringes of the first team some much-needed game time.
Matthew Pennington might be available after injuring himself against Bolton in the opening weekend of the season and he could be partnered by Conor Shaughnessy, the one player who might keep his place in the team.
Number one Wiedwald should sit this one out and give Andy Lonergan the chance to make his first appearance for the club since 2011.
At the other end, Pierre-Michel Lasogga is also in line to be rested to pave the way for Dutch striker Jay-Roy Grot, 19, to make his first start in a Leeds shirt.
There is also likely to be a debut for deadline day signing Pawel Cibicki, who is yet to play for the team he joined in the summer.
Key squad men Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Gaetano Berardi, Ronaldo Vieira, Mateusz Klich, Kemar Roofe and Stuart Dallas are also in line for recalls.
In other Leeds United team news, Alvin Martin has made an astonishing claim about Christiansen’s team that fans will love.
