Leeds expected 4-2-3-1 v Cardiff: Midfielder axed in two changes

By Amir Mir

Garry Monk could make two changes to his starting XI when Leeds take on Cardiff at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

The promotion chasers were beaten 2-1 by Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield last time out when Michael Hefele scored a late winner.

As a result, midfielder Ronaldo Vieira may be axed for the weekend clash with Souleymane Doukara also possibly missing out.

Therefore, Eunan O’Kane and January loan signing winger Mo Barrow could come into the starting XI.

Striker Chris Wood will be hoping to continue his fine run of form up top, having scored seven goals in his last six Championship encounters.

Playmaker Hernandez could start in behind the New Zealand international as the Spaniard will be tasked to orchestrate any Leeds attack.

Despite scoring in his last home match against Forest, Doukara’s poor run of form might see Monk opt to use the extra pace of Barrow out wide with the possibility of Stuart Dallas on the other wing.

Captain Liam Bridcutt will be hoping to continue his role in the middle of the park alongside the more forward-thinking O’Kane.

Furthermore, the back four could remain the same from the last encounter with central defensive duo Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley aiming to secure a clean sheet.

Rob Green, who has been a key figure between the sticks this season, is likely to keep his place and aim to record a seventh straight clean sheet on home soil.

In other Leeds team news, this 25-year-old has scooped a monthly award for his fine run of form.
