Leeds fans all say same thing about Joel Piroe after ‘nightmare’ incident

Leeds United’s promotion aspirations were handed a significant blow at the hands of Portsmouth during their meeting at Fratton Park on Sunday (9 March) – and Joel Piroe was at the heart of the discord.

The Championship leaders suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat against Portsmouth with Colby Bishop’s 61st-minute goal being the difference between the two teams.

The result was an unexpected one given the fact that there are 16 places between the two teams in the league table, but it has opened up the title race.

Leeds are now level on points with Sheffield United after the Blades picked up an important three points during their most recent match, with only goal difference splitting them.

Sheffield United aren’t the only team that the Whites have to worry about either as they could end up missing out on automatic promotion completely as Burnley are just two points behind them as well.

Daniel Farke’s team have only lost four games all season in the Championship, but given the pressure being placed on them there is now no margin for error moving forward.

However, the best chance of the game fell to Joel Piroe in the 49th minute when the game was goalless.

The ball was cut back to him just outside of the six-yard box with no goalkeeper in net, yet Piroe ended up blasting his shot high above the goal as he squandered the opportunity.

Industry insider Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that Leeds want to sign Cameron Archer in the summer to bolster their attacking options, which coul provide more competition next season.

Leeds United fans are stunned with Joel Piroe

The miss left Leeds fans infuriated as they were well aware of how big of a chance it was for them to take the lead in the game.

Considering the eventual result that miss ended up proving even more costly for the 25-year-old, as it would have changed the game at that time.
