The Championship side announced the news yesterday, revealing that he will be heading to Elland Road on a season-long loan.
The 29-year-old provides versatility to Daniel Farke’s squad and boasts experience in the Championship and Premier League.
Rothwell spent the second half of last season on loan at Southampton, therefore he knows exactly what it takes to try and get promoted out of the division.
The midfielder played 16 times in the Championship for the Saints, scoring four goals as the club secured a return to the top flight.
Now he will attempt to do the same thing for the upcoming season, this time at the West Yorkshire-based club.
