'No brainer', 'All day long' - Leeds fans blown away by who is favourite to be next ER manager

Leeds United fans have been blown away by the thoughr of Mick McCarthy becoming their next manager after he was installed as favourite to be the next man in the hotseat at Elland Road.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Wednesday that Paul Heckingbottom is set to be axed by Leeds after winning just two games since taking charge of the club in February and the board has already started to draw up a list of potential replacements

That has led to PaddyPower opening the market on who will become the next Whites boss and have named McCarthy, 59, as their 6/1 favourite.

Alan Pardew and Steve McClaren (both 7/1) are also among the frontrunners, but it is McCarthy who has got fans excited after he walked out on Ipswich this week earlier than expected.

The former Wolves and Sunderland manager was due to leave Portman Road at the end of the season when his contract expired.

But after talks with the board it was decided that the ex-Republic of Ireland international would not be offered new terms at the Suffolk club and would be on his way in the summer.

After beating Barnsley on Tuesday night, McCarthy shocked everyone by announcing that he will quit Ipswich now rather than wait until the season ends.

That has led to Leeds fans being delighted that the 59-year-old is being linked with filling what could soon be a vacant hotseat at Elland Road.
