Leeds fans explode at ‘fake’ Georginio Rutter as Brighton footage emerges
Leeds United have hit out at Georginio Rutter after footage of their former player celebrating with Brighton fans emerged on social media.
The Frenchman made his debut in the Seagulls’ 2-1 win against Manchester United at the AMEX, playing six minutes from the bench.
Following the game, as the players walked around the pitch applauding the supporters, Rutter stepped away from the group to fist pump towards the crowd.
Leeds fans immediately due comparisons to his typical celebrations at Elland Road throughout last season and are not happy with him replicating those away from the club.
The forward left Leeds to pursue a move to the Premier League earlier this summer after Fabian Hurzeler’s side triggered a £40million release clause in his contract.
As a result, supporters at Elland Road have turned on the player they once adored.
Leeds United fans rage at Georginio Rutter after what he did with Brighton
When he left Leeds earlier this month, the general reaction from supporters was to wish him well – with their anger turned towards the board.
However, after seeing clips of the forward at his new club, that anger is now aimed at him.
Comparisons were also made between the level of support and atmosphere at the AMEX and Elland Road, as some insisted the player would already be missing the Leeds crowd.
However, with the footage doing the rounds on social media following the game, Rutter has been labelled “fake” and an “embarrassment”.
