Leeds United fans took to Twitter to bemoan their club’s luck after it emerged today (Wednesday) that January signing Tyler Roberts is facing an extended spell on the sidelines.
United released a statement on their official website to explain that the striker’s ankle injury is worse than initially feared.
Scans on the joint have showed a small crack to his shin and he is now set to see a specialist for further assessment before the club can put a specific timescale on his absence.
Roberts has not been available for action since joining Leeds from West Brom on deadline day for an initial £2.5million rising to a potential £4million.
The deal was hailed as a coup by United given not only the Baggies’ desire to keep him but also the sheer number of clubs keen on signing a player available for a relatively affordable fee given that his contract at the Premier League club was due to expire in the summer.
Leeds supporters reacted with fury, dismay, sarcasm and frustration following an injury and suspension crisis that has robbed the team of so many key players since the turn of the year.
One Leeds fan sarcastically labelled Roberts as another ‘platinum hit’ Victor Orta signing, while many supporters questioned the thoroughness of the player’s recent medical.

Typical Lufc, buy a striker in January & not have him available for a month or more. Do we not do medicals now?
