Leeds fans furious with reported interest in 45-year-old for manager position

By Derek Smithson

Leeds have been linked with a move for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to become their new manager – and the club’s supporters are strongly against the idea on Twitter.

The Daily Mirror claim that the Whites are considering a move for the 45-year-old as owner Andrea Radrizzani searches for a new senior man to take charge at Elland Road.

It is understood that the former Leeds player turned down an approach from the Yorkshire club last summer when Massimo Cellino was in charge, but Radrizzai is now believed to be eyeing the Dutchman.

Hasselbaink has already taken charge at QPR and Burton during his short managerial career, but would be expected to help get Leeds back in the Premier League.

The Whites fans rallied on social media to show they are strong against a potential appointment of their former striker and feel he would be unable to help them develop.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Hasselbaink is a popular figure at Elland Road after his goalscoring exploits at the club as a player, but would have all the pressure on him if he returned in the managerial hotseat.

Radrizzani is not rushing into any plans to appoint a new boss and has already been linked with several star-studded names.

Monk has built the foundations of a solid Championship side at Leeds and it’s unclear who will be striving for promotion next year.
