'League One' standard, 'Sack him' - Leeds fans slaughter 26-yr-old after display v Norwich

By Richard Parks

Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to lay into Liam Cooper after his comeback performance in Saturday’s 2-1 Championship defeat to Norwich City.

The centre-back was restored to the starting XI in place of youngster Paudie O’Connor as he paired senior man Pontus Jansson in central defence for the clash at Carrow Road.

But it proved to be an unhappy return for Cooper, 26, as Leeds’ wretched season continued with yet another defeat.

Kalvin Phillips opened the scoring for Leeds with a fantastic half-volley from 25 yards out but Wes Hoolahan, captain for the day, equalised five minutes later with a deflected shot which looped over Leeds keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Ex-Republic of Ireland player Hoolahan, 35, then assisted Josh Murphy, who fired in to complete the comeback after 69 minutes.

The result means Leeds have dropped to 14th in the table with just one match of their Championship campaign remaining, against QPR next weekend.

Supporters of the Yorkshire giants were furious at the performance of Cooper, slamming him as ‘League One’ standard and unhappy he was recalled in place of rising star O’Connor.
