Leeds fans ‘like Daniel Farke more than Marcelo Bielsa’ – pundit
Daniel Farke has done a “better job” at Leeds United than Marcelo Bielsa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie claimed that Whites fans prefer what Farke has brought to Elland Road than the much-loved Bielsa during his seven-month tenure.
The German has rejuvenated Leeds following their dismal Premier League season last year with his free-flowing and goal-heavy football and has them well-placed for promotion back to the top flight.
However, Bielsa was adored by the Elland Road faithful during his four-year spell for bringing a fresh brand of football to the club and ending a 16-year absence from the Premier League after they were promoted in 2020.
Daniel Farke has surpassed Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds – McAvennie
Regardless, McAvennie was adamant that Farke has surpassed Bielsa on the pitch but admitted that both bring a rare “humanity” that is needed to be a success at the Yorkshire giants.
“Farke has gone into Leeds and changed it all completely,” he told Football Insider.
“I think he’s done a better job than Bielsa – I think Leeds fans like Farke more than him.
“Bielsa had a way about him and I think Farke has similar ideas.
“They both have these levels of humanity and they want their players to have that too.
“There’s not a lot of that in football now.

“Players and managers nowadays don’t have a relationship with the fans but with Leeds, you can’t not have that relationship!
“Farke has done that fantastically.”
