Leeds fans on Twitter have urged Garry Monk to recall Marcus Antonsson to the matchday squad for Saturday’s Championship clash against Preston.
The striker, 25, has not even made the substitute’s bench for nine of Leeds’ last 10 matches even though he is fully fit and available for selection.
Antonsson has even been selected for the Under-23s on a number of occasions in what has been a fall from grace since his central role in the early months of the season.
The former Kalmar FF player has not had any league action since a late substitute appearance in the 3-0 win against Rotherham on 2 January, and last wore a Leeds shirt when they were dumped out of the FA Cup by non-league Sutton on 29 January.
But Leeds fans have urged Monk to bring Antonsson in from the cold to provide a greater goal threat for a side that have struggled in the last two matches.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Anyone else think it’s time for Antonsson and Roofe to be given proper chances in the team. Play a system that suits them. #lufc

I still genuinely don’t get why we’re giving Doukara so much game time yet Antonsson is just wasting away in the reserves #lufc

Remember Antonsson … he was alright wasn’t he? Better than Doukara wasn’t he? Ah never mind what’s £3 mill to this club anyway #lufc

Anyone else think Antonsson should be on the bench at least to give us another option? #LUFC

Leeds have lost each of their last two league matches, a 1-0 defeat to Reading last Saturday followed by Tuesday night’s 2-0 loss at Brentford.
There was a notable lack of goal threat from the Yorkshire giants in each of those two matches.
Antonsson has made 21 appearances in all competitions for Leeds this season but has scored just three goals, two of which came in the League Cup.
He has struggled for game time mainly due to the excellent form of main striker Chris Wood, who has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season and is the Championship equal leading scorer with 24.
The re-emergence of versatile forward Souleymane Doukara and the deadline day signings of Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow have pushed Antonsson further down the Elland Road pecking order.
