Leeds fans rage at Ilia Gruev after his display against Cardiff
Leeds United fans were unimpressed with Ilia Gruev during their 2-0 win over bottom-placed Cardiff City on Saturday (September 21).
The 24-year-old started in central midfield, partnered with Ethan Ampadu, 24, and was largely criticised for his insistence on playing simple passes.
Gruev ended the game with an impressive 96 per cent pass accuracy rate as the West Yorkshire club dominated possession against Cardiff with 78 per cent of the ball.
The Bulgarian had opportunities to open the scoring before summer signing Largie Ramazani bagged the first goal on the half-hour mark at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Substitute Joel Piroe then doubled their lead with an effort from just outside the six-yard box to secure the victory.
Thankfully for Daniel Farke, Leeds were able to put their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Burnley on match day five to climb into the play-off spots.
