Leeds fans rage at ‘worst-ever’ Illan Meslier as new stats emerge

Leeds fans were furious with goalkeeper Illan Meslier after his performance in their frustrating 1-0 Championship defeat to Millwall on Wednesday (November 6).

It’s been an underwhelming start to the season for the 24-year-old, costing his side two valuable points in the Championship title race against Sunderland with arguably the biggest howler the division has ever seen.

Now, in their most recent defeat to rivals Millwall, a tame dive to try and save Japhet Tanganga’s winner has frustrated fans even further.

The French shot-stopper now extends his run of being unable to keep the faced xG above actual goals conceded, with nine conceded from an xG of 8.2.

Millwall had an xG of just 0.36 from six total shots while Leeds had 0.74 from 14 but were unable to turn their dominance into a win.

Daniel Farke’s side remain within touching distance of the automatic promotion spots, two points off Yorkshire rivals in second with 26.

Frustrated after failing to secure promotion last season, Leeds fans took to X, formally known as Twitter to tell the club they need a new goalkeeper if they want to do better this campaign.
