Leeds United fans have been left raving in their responses to a social media post from emerging star Tom Pearce after he featured in the club’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa on Friday night.
The Whites sunk to yet another defeat as a result of Lewis Grabban’s first half header, leaving the Elland Road outfit with just two wins in 2018, a run of form which has left them floundering in 14th with three games left to play.
Absences, through both injury and suspension, have played their part in the Whites’ campaign, with the likes of Gaetano Berardi, Liam Cooper and Laurens De Bock all missing their fair share of action.
As a result of the defensive struggles suffered throughout the first team, Paul Heckingbottom has moved young defender Pearce from the reserve side into the senior squad, and made his debut by starting the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday.
Four more unused substitute appearances were followed by another start against the Villans on Friday night, and he took to his personal Twitter account to thank the supporters who made the journey down to Birmingham to back the Whites.

His message was swamped by responses of support from the Elland Road faithful, many of which named him among the best players on the Villa Park pitch, as well as expressing their excitement over his future with the club.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best Tweets:
Well done Tom! You youngsters can hold your heads high, gave more last night than half the others have ever. Congrats mate let’s hope this is more often
