'We are knackered' - Leeds fans react to dramatic drop in odds of Monk managing PL club
By Harry Sykes
Leeds fans on Twitter are fretting after a dramatic drop in the odds of Garry Monk being appointed the new Middlesbrough manager.
The 38-year-old has been dramatically backed in to get the Boro job after starting the weekend at 20/1 before, as reported by Football Insider, his odds suddenly narrowed to 4/1 on Sunday afternoon.
Even at that point, Monk was third favourite behind Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs and ex-Leicester and Derby manager Nigel Pearson, but a fresh surge of betting has now made him strong-odds favourite to take the vacant post.
The sensational change in odds has send shockwaves among the Leeds faithful, who are aware that Monk is out of contract next month and has not yet agreed the terms of an extension while the club put the finishing touches to Andrea Radrizzani’s full takeover.

Monk is currently in his second managerial post at Leeds after a successful 18-month reign at Premier League club Swansea.
His reputation has been enhanced at Elland Road during the recently-completed Championship season as he transformed the fortunes of the club which had limped to finishes of between 13th and 15th in the five previous years before.
Leeds challenged strongly for promotion before a final-month collapse meant they ended the campaign in seventh in the Championship, one place and five points behind the play-offs positions.
In other Leeds United news, a deal worth multiple millions will be tired up by the Yorkshire giants next week and the fans will be over the moon.
