Leeds handed best possible news on Twitter that bodes brilliantly for Sheffield United clash

Has Leeds United’s luck finally turned?
The club’s legions of followers could well feel that might be the case after Pontus Jansson was given the green light to play in Saturday’s Yorkshire derby against Sheffield United.
Jansson was stretchered off with an injury 30 minutes into Leeds’ 4-1 defeat at Cardiff City last weekend as the injury and suspension crisis that decimated Thomas Christiansen’s options in the final weeks of his rein plumbed new depths.
But the word from someone who should know – the defender’s brother Peter Jansson – is that the giant Swede is fit and available to play in Paul Heckingbottom’s first match at the helm.
Asked cheekily by a number of Leeds fan on Twitter if Jansson’s injury was serious, his brother replied on his personal account, “Ready for Paul’s Saturday selection” and “will be fine for the weekend”.

The availability of United’s defensive kingpin is the best possible news for Heckingbottom as he assesses a squad that has struggled to cope with a raft of injuries and suspensions since their last win on Boxing Day.
The manager has previously raved about attacking midfield duo Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski but knows that the team’s talisman and most authoritative presence is the defender signed for £3.6million from Torino last summer.
Jansson is not only one of the finest centre-backs in the Championship but a leader and an example to colleagues who are much in need of someone to show them the way, especially when their backs are against the wall.
It is especially essential that the Sweden international is available to feature as Bramall Lane as fellow defenders Luke Ayling and Conor Shaughnessy are in crutches and a protective boot respectively, while Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi are finishing and starting suspensions after recent red cards.
Even Christiansen’s harshest critic will admit he suffered some ill luck.
News that the star enforcer is fit and firing suggests Heckingbottom is about to benefit from a change in fortunes.
