'Horrendously atrocious', 'Hasn't a clue' - Leeds fans rage at one Christiansen decision mainly v Cardiff
By Richard Parks
Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to express their fury at Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s substitution with 16 minutes remaining of their defeat to Cardiff City on Saturday.
There were jeers from supporters at Elland Road on Saturday when the striker was hauled off by Thomas Christiansen and replaced by right-winger Hadi Sacko.
Leeds were 3-1 down and reduced to 10 men following Gaetano Berardi’s first-half sending-off when the manager took off Lasogga, who had scored twice in their 4-3 defeat to Millwall a fortnight earlier.
First half goals from Callum Paterson, Junior Hoilett and Sean Morrison helped Bluebirds cruise into a commanding lead and Anthony Pilkington made the result safe after Sol Bamba’s own goal briefly stirred Leeds.
Christiansen said afterwards he fully understood the frustration of the fans but insisted it was more to do with the scoreline than the substitution of Lasogga.
TC on crowd reaction to Lasogga change: “I can understand the fans.
“They can come with their opinion and I think it’s not so much the substitution who it was or how it was, it was more how the result was. When you are disappointed, it doesn’t matter what the coach makes.” #lufc

Supporters on social media subsequently took issue with the manager’s comments and insisted their anger was directed much more at the withdrawal of a player with the ability to bring their team back into the game.
Here is a selection of the best messages on Twitter:
Took Lasogga off and the chant was “you don’t know what you’re doing”. That’s pretty unequivocal to me

No, when you’re losing 3-1 at home with 10 men you don’t bring off your striker. End of.

That sub killed the game…

Just shows he hasn’t got a clue. Yes it’s was about him taking lasogga off.

Nuh uh. It was the fact that Lasogga was doing well and Roofe offered next to nothing

Erm… no it was taking off Lasogga when he had started getting into the game leaving Roofe on who was absolutely horrendously atrocious. And that’s being polite.

Oh Fcuk, he really hasn’t a clue.

Roofe is awful, he can go with TC

Horses fit courses though? Roofer isn’t a midfielder, and my understanding is that he was played there today. I worry about how well TC understands his players.

Lasogga was starting to get in the game, Roofe was awful and he made the wrong choice…same sterile tactics and subs everygame now

The defeat leaves Leeds in 10th place in the Championship and now seven points off a play-off spot ahead of the trip to Sheffield United next weekend.
In other Leeds United transfer news, it can be revealed that a centre-forward who has player for the team this season has had his contract terminated.
