Leeds fans react amusingly on Twitter to fresh Bamba transfer speculation

By Will Butcher

Leeds fans have reacted in amusing fashion on Twitter amid reports that Sol Bamba is close to a move to Championship rivals Derby County.

Free agent Bamba, 31, has been without a club after leaving the Yorkshire giants the day after the summer transfer window closed.

The former Leicester stopper had fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road behind Pontus Jansson, Kyle Bartley and Liam Cooper.

The Sun claim that the Championship big-hitters may take a look at the former Leeds captain, after Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay revealed on his personal Twitter account that the defender has reported for training with the Rams for the past week.

The goalscoring defender had been Leeds’ club captain for more than a year after first captaining the side during a loan spell from Serie A side Palermo.

But a move to Nigel Pearson’s side is looking increasingly likely, and fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Bamba could be joining the struggling Championship outfit.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The 49-time Ivory Coast international was integral last term and made 33 appearances in league and cup encounters, scoring four goals.

He had been a regular at Elland Road during his 18 months with the club, making 56 appearances for the club.
