Leeds fans react on Twitter to Grimes display v Norwich
By Dominic Toner
Matt Grimes was involved in a dramatic Leeds victory on Tuesday night – but the club’s supporters were furious on Twitter with his performance.
The Whites secured a 3-2 win on penalties against Championship rivals Norwich at Elland Road, meaning they booked their place in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.
First-half goals from Alex Pritchard and Marcus Antonsson sent the game into extra-time, before Chris Wood cancelled out Nelson Oliviera’s goal to take the game to penalties.
Goalkeeper Marco Silvestri saved three spot-kicks in a dramatic shoot-out in which victory was sealed for the home side when academy product Ronaldo Vieira, 18, scored the decisive spot-kick.
Midfielder Grimes was handed just his third start of the season against Norwich and was involved in the entire contest, including missing his penalty in the shoot-out by blazing the ball over the crossbar.

Grimes, 21, completed a season-long loan move to Elland Road in the summer from Swansea.
The central midfielder has now made seven appearances in all competitions and is yet to register a goal or an assist.
The England Under-21 international has failed to settle since his arrival and is currently far down in Garry Monk’s pecking order of midfielders.
