Leeds fans react on Twitter to Huddersfield defeat against Manchester City

By Amir Mir

Huddersfield were knocked out of the FA Cup on Wednesday night when they were beaten 5-1 at Manchester City – and Leeds fans on Twitter enjoyed their loss.

The Terriers, who are fighting for promotion from the Championship with their neighbours, took an early lead against the Premier League outfit.

Harry Bunn opened the scoring inside seven minutes when his low driven shot went through the legs of City keeper Claudio Bravo.

Pep Guardiola’s side then hit back by scoring three goals in eight minutes before half-time, with Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta all finding the back of the net.

After more second half pressure, if it was not already known, Aguero made sure of his side’s progression with his second and Kelechi Iheanacho scoring in stoppage time.

It was a spirited display from the Yorkshire team who played an open game against a strong City line-up.

The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Aguero, John Stones, and Fernandinho started the FA Cup fifth-round replay.

Now, City will face fellow Premier League side Middlesbrough with the duo hoping to earn a trip to Wembley and a place in the semi-final.

There is no surprise that Leeds fans were delighted to see their rivals suffer a defeat and they were hoping that this game will dent their confidence in the coming weeks.

One fan stated that he is now hoping David Wagner’s side implode from now on with a number of key fixtures coming up in their race for promotion.

Wagner will welcome Championship leaders Newcastle to Yorkshire at the weekend and then host Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa three days later.
