Leeds fans react on Twitter to Roofe display v Preston

By Dominic Toner

Kemar Roofe scored on his return to the starting line-up against Preston – and the Leeds fans were thrilled with his performance on Twitter.

The 24-year-old attacker starred in his side’s 3-0 victory against Preston at Elland Road in the Championship.

The Whites strengthened their position in the play-off places and are now six points above seventh-placed Sheffield Wednesday.

Roofe opened the scoring for the Yorkshire club in the 18th minute after lifting his shot over the goalkeeper.

Pablo Hernandez then doubled the hosts lead, before substitute Souleymane Doukara netted a 93rd minute goal.

Leeds fans highlighted the performance of winger Roofe and some feel that he now deserves a permanent starting position in the side.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Roofe has been an important member of the Leeds squad this season following his summer arrival from Oxford.

The attacker has been a regular feature in Monk’s side, but has rarely completed the full 90 minutes.

He managed to score his fourth goal of the campaign against Preston and has been unable to recapture his form last season, when he netted 25 goals in 49 appearances.

Monk has constantly switched players in the wide areas and that’s the one position of the pitch that is up for grabs ahead of the play-offs.

Leeds travel to Newcastle in their next match and Roofe will hope to get the chance to impress.
