'I love this new era' - Leeds fans react to reported effort to land international playmaker

By Danny Wright

Leeds United are reportedly trying to sign midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi from Japanese side Gamba Osaka – and fans on Twitter are excited to be linked with the international.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday morning that Leeds are making an effort to land playmaker Ideguchi, 21, when the transfer window re-opens in January.

This comes after director of football Victor Orta revealed that the Whites are looking to snap up an Asian player after a mad summer which saw the club undergo a complete makeover, including the Under-23 side which now boasts a large number of foreign talent.

Orta was worked tirelessly to bring in players from continental Europe to both the first-team and the development squad and it seems that his net has been cast even wider with Ideguchi now on the Yorkshire club’s radar.

The four-times Japan international, who only made his senior debut in June, has been in hot form for Gamba Osaka this season, scoring three goals and supplying nine assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

That has led to the Whites fans being blown away by their pursuit to land the J-League star, who could potentially benefit the team financially.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

The signing of Ideguchi will no doubt have a major financial reasoning behind it due to the strength of the over-seas football market in East Asia.

In other Leeds United news, Nigel Clough has made a big claim about the Whites after the win against Burton.
