Leeds fans react to reported Premier League mega-transfer breakthrough

By Alex Stevens

Leeds fans have reacted with excitement on Twitter to reports that West Ham have agreed to sell Dimitri Payet to Marseille as they predict it will trigger a chain of transfers ending with Ashley Fletcher’s arrival.

Sky Sports correspondent Kaveh Solkehol revealed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that the Hammers have thrashed out a deal following extensive talks and Payet is on his way to the French club for a medical.

The landmark mega transfer will reportedly hand West Ham a £25million-plus windfall and free up funds for them to push through the signing of striker Scott Hogan from Brentford.

The Sun claim Hammers are in advanced talks to sign the prolific Hogan, 24, from the Championship club but have not been able to push through a deal.

The expected arrival of a new forward is set to pave the way for the exit of fringe spearhead Fletcher, who has been strongly pursued by Leeds during the January window.

Radio Yorkshire journalist Rawson took to Twitter on Friday night to report that Leeds’ attention in the final days of the way is still centred on signing Fletcher and Norwich winger Sergi  Canos.

Leeds fans react almost instantaneously to the fresh Payet reports that it will start a chain of transfers that could end up with their club landing Fletcher.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Fletcher, 21, joined West Ham from Manchester United last summer but most of his 13 appearances have been as a substitute.

It is likely the Hammers hierarchy will be willing for him to go out on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

In other Leeds news, there has been a finale in a major deal after a £7million Leeds bid was tabled.
