Leeds have made a move to sign Grimsby goal machine Omar Bogle – and fans of the Yorkshire giants have taken to Twitter to express their delight.

Sky Sports claim on their transfer centre blog (Friday, 4.49pm) that Leeds are trying to beat second-tier rivals Brentford and Rotherham to the signing of the prolific striker.

It is said that Leeds and Brentford have made approaches Grimsby about capturing the forward in the final days of the January transfer window following a rejected bid from Rotherham of £850,000.

The Guardian have reported that Leeds are preparing a bid for the 24-year-old on the back of his exploits in the opening half of the season as they edge closer to signing him.

Leeds have turned their attention to Bogle as they aim to sign the striker craved by manager Garry Monk before next Tuesday’s deadline.

Monk has made it clear he wants attacking reinforcements, with his priority a striker to provide back-up to 20-goal leading scorer Chris Wood.

Like the New Zealand international, Bogle has been in outstanding goal form this season and Leeds fans are excited at the possibility of their club landing a proven scorer.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter;

Bogle has been in outstanding goalscoring form for Grimsby this season, scoring 19 goals in 26 league matches and providing five assists.

The England C international has a fine record since joining Grimsby from non-league outfit Solihull in the summer of 2015, with 76 games in all appearances for the club yielding 35 goals and 15 assists.

The fourth-tier side are vulnerable to a bid as Bogle has entered the final 18 months of his contract.

In other Leeds news, there has been a finale in a major deal after a £7million Leeds bid was tabled.
