'Promotion 18/19 here we come', Best in years - Leeds fans react after ace drops transfer hint

By Richard Parks

Leeds United fans have delivered mixed verdicts on Twitter after Pontus Jansson hinted he will remain at the club next season.

The Sweden international took to his personal Twitter account late on Saturday night to express his delight at the team returning to winning ways with a 2-1 Championship win against Barnsley on Saturday.

The Swedish centre-back revealed it was “fantastic to be back and help my team get winning again” following what “has been a dark 2018” and dropped a major hint about his 2018-19 plans by insisting “we have to show results next season”.

Jansson was restored to the starting XI against Paul Heckingbottom’s former club after missing the defeat against Aston Villa due to injury.

He was paired by rookie Paudie O’Connor in the centre of defence, with Matthew Pennington moving across to right-back, and United secured only their third win since Heckingbottom took charge at the start of February.
