Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to express their despair at the reported pursuit of Everton defender Matthew Pennington on a permanent deal.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that the Yorkshire big hitters are keen to land the Toffees centre-back on a long-term deal following his season-long loan at Elland Road.
It is said that Leeds are exploring a permanent deal for Pennington but Everton want to extend his current deal, which runs until the summer of 2019.
Pennington dropped down to the Championship last summer in search of regular first-team action and has made 22 appearances during a mixed campaign.
He has featured more regularly in the second half of the season but has generally been the third-choice centre-back behind star man Pontus Jansson and skipper Liam Cooper.
Leeds fans have not been overly impressed by the contribution of the Everton player, claiming he makes too many mistakes and lacks the commanding presence to be the ideal summer signing for such a key position.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
I just can’t see what’s toblike about Pennington. Yes, maybe he needs a consistent partner to play with week in week out but he has too many mistakes in him for my liking.

Me neither, get another in and keep Coops/Paudie for cover

Barnsley clearly targeted him in the air,and he came up short.
Was the last thing I expected as a centre half playing full back, with a young full back on the opposite side.
I’m not convinced by Cooper, but Pennington is behind him I’m afraid.
Not worth signing

This is sounding like Everton are just playing games…. trying to get as much as they can in the deal… Leeds should call their bluff. #LUFC
