'Great move', 'Here's our transfer budget' - Leeds fans react to multi-million Radrizzani deal
By Richard Parks
Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to deliver mixed verdicts after Andrea Radrizzani’s sports rights firm sealed a multi-million pound La Liga TV rights deal.
In a major coup for Radrizzani, the BBC Sport website report that Italian’s sports network Eleven Sports secured a three-year deal yesterday (Wednesday), ending Sky Sports long hold on Spanish football matches. The Times claim they out-bid Sky’s £54million offer.
Radrizzani, who controls a 100 per cent share in Leeds having bought the club 12 months ago, founded Eleven Sports in 2015 and has built up rights to various sports across the globe.
The company has yet to confirm how it will show matches in the UK or whether another broadcaster will be used to televise the games.
Its agreement with La Liga starts next season and runs to the end of the 2020-21 campaign. It has been speculated that Eleven Sports is believed to be considering making offers for two packages of Premier League rights covering the three years from 2019 to 2022.

Leeds supporters took to social media en masse to react to Radrizzani’s company striking such a major deal, with some wondering why he doesn’t invest the same multi-millions in Leeds and others insisting the club could have the knock-on benefits of the owner’s growing wealth.

Money, money, money. This is how MP&SILVA rose so quickly. Can only be good for Leeds IMO. https://t.co/64NutbzNkO

So, Eleven Sports Network (Owned by Leeds United owner, Radrizzani) outbid Sky (Sports) for La Liga, (the Spanish football league)

Some fans crying about Radrizzani’s company stealing La Liga rights from Sky, because it isn’t “Leeds” (who said it was?), & they can’t watch La Liga anymore. Like they ever watched it in the first place.
Swear people will clutch straws at anything Radz does from now on. #lufc

‘That £56mil could have bought us promotion ????’
Nailed on they all wear Velcro shoes.

Some Leeds’ fans determined inability to distinguish a deal paid for by a company owned by Radrizzani from ‘he’s got money why won’t he use it on #lufc?’ is admirable if not entirely unexpected.

Surprised me when I googled the wealth of Eleven Sports. His business’ clearly have more financial clout than I gave him credit for, but whether he will or can use it to invest in Leeds is open for debate.

Optimist Leeds fan – Radrizzani making money moves, will make a fortune, spend it at Leeds.

This is a great move in general. Fans not realising how much extra money this will allow to be invested in Leeds over the next few years from ad revenue, subscriptions, etc. Good move from Radz in my eyes, hope he stays to keep building the club up
