Leeds United are reportedly in hot pursuit of Venezia midfielder Leo Stulac – and fans have delivered mixed verdicts on Twitter.

Italian broadcaster and transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, who regularly breaks stories, has claimed on his personal website that the Yorkshire giants are battling Genoa for the signing of the Slovenian.

It is said that Genoa director Giorgio Perinetti is trying to finalise the signing of Stulac, 23, and a transfer is close but Leeds have made a late attempt to hijack the deal by contacting the player and his agent.

The former Slovenia Under-21 international is available on a free transfer this summer as he winds down his contract at Venezia, who are fifth in Serie B.

Stulac was on the bench for most of the opening half of the season, but has seized his chance over recent months, scoring six goals and creating four assists from 20 appearances over the entirety of the campaign.

The central midfielder has been especially productive of late, with three goals in his last four matches.

Many Leeds fans are unimpressed at the prospect of signing a player from Serie B after the club had their fingers burned in the past, but are excited at Stulac’s potential as well as the fact that he is available on a free.
