Leeds fans react on Twitter as 25-year-old ruled out of next two matches

By Will Butcher

Leeds fans reacted with frustration on Twitter after Luke Ayling picked up his tenth yellow card of the season during Saturday’s 0-0 draw against QPR.

Ayling, 25, will now miss Leeds’ next two crucial outings against promotion rivals Brighton and Reading, as he is forced to serve a two-match suspension.

The former Bristol City star picked up the ban after going in late on QPR left-back Jake Bidwell on Leeds’ right flank, catching Bidwell on his shin.

Ex-Arsenal youth player Ayling, who returned to Garry Monk’s side at Elland Road on Saturday after missing Tuesday’s clash against Fulham, is likely to be replaced by Charlie Taylor.

Leeds fans were annoyed on Twitter after referee Tim Robinson brandished Ayling with a yellow card for his tackle on Bidwell, while some criticised Monk’s decision to play the in-form defender and risk a ban.

Ayling missed Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Fulham after the birth of his daughter, but returned to make his 36th league and cup appearances of the season for Leeds.

Yet to score in a Leeds shirt, Ayling has helped the Yorkshire giants win 20 times as well as keeping 12 clean sheets.
