‘Dodgy’ – Leeds fans react as club confirm third summer signing
By Danny Wright
Leeds confirmed goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald as their third signing of the summer on Friday evening – and most fans took to Twitter to show their delight.
The 27-year-old had been a key feature for Werder Bremen as they finished eighth in the Bundesliga last season and will add plenty of competition for the No 1 spot in Thomas Christiansen’s squad ahead of their 2017/18 Championship campaign.
Leeds announced the on their official website that the goalkeeper has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal and will battle with Rob Green and Marco Silvestri for a spot in Christiansen’s plans.
Wiedwald follows Mateusz Klich and Magder Gomes through the door at Elland Road as the Dane looks to put his own stamp of authority on his squad.
The Yorkshire Post has previously reported that Wiedwald would have cost Leeds around £500,000 in his switch from Bremen, where he is likely to have fell down the pecking order after they confirmed they are pursuing Slavia Prague goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka.
On the most part, Leeds fans seem to be over the moon with Bremen’s choice to flog the ex-Frankfurt stopper, and took to social media to share their delight, although one pointed out that his record at Bremen was “dodgy”.

Wiedwald made 25 Bundesliga appearances last season, conceding 49 – which appears to be the worry for one of the Leeds supporters.
He kept five clean sheets, with two of them coming against Schalke and surprise package RB Leipzing.
In other Leeds news, Andrea Radrizzani has issued a message of support to Pep Clotet as he gets his first job in English management.
